Inchathotty is a village on the banks of the Periyar River adjoining the bird sanctuary. Here lies the longest suspension bridge of Kerala.
Inchathotty Hanging Bridge was undertaken by the ‘KEL’, a government electrical company. The bridge has a length of 181 meters and width of 1.2 meters. The total cost of the project was Rs.1.60 crores, and the project was completed in 11 months. The bridge serves as a pedestrian only bridge for the villagers of Inchathotty.
The bridge is a tourist spot with great scenery, often visited by people from other parts of Kerala. Boating on a traditional fishing canoe is possible at the bridge site.
